This rock solid ranch horse retired here in 2017 with branding from the legendary Anchor D Ranch in Oklahoma.  At the age of 23, he quickly established himself as the herd alpha, is an expert gate opener, and a stoic gentleman.

Mr. Personality and our “Man in Black”, Cash is a healthy blue Roan who came from a lamb ranch in Colorado.  He goes with the flow of the herd and gladly shows his tricks in hopes of treats. Cash is a strong tester of boundaries and likes a sense of humor in the round pen.

Three generations of our family enjoyed leisurely rides with Macintosh.  He’s as strong and stubborn as he is handsome. After fighting the strangles, ulcers and assorted other ailments, he’s grazing away his golden years as our Alpha elder.

Gilley is a pretty, petite palomino and the elder mare.  She’s dainty and demanding, like the other women of old oaks.  Gilley arrived here from a friend who needed to retire her and she continues to provide positive horse experiences and endless grooming opportunities.

Chico came from the rodeo world  and is adjusting to life at Old Oaks.  He’s warming to the attention and really gets his swagger around the cattle.  We think the sky's the limit in learning with this curious and energetic boy.

Pistol and his constant side kick Penny came to us from a dear friend who was moving his family back to city life.  Pistol is tall, red and handsome. He has degenerative conditions in his legs from his rodeo days and continues to improve by going ‘barefoot’ in our green pastures. Sometimes a close talker, he ’s very curious and eager to participate in our round pen sessions.

We have not stopped smiling and  laughing since Penny arrived as part of the dynamic duo with Pistol. She loves to roll in the dirt, harass her nemesis Hombre, run circles around the herd, kick her heels up, and tell you all about it!

These two are Trouble...FFA dropouts who’ve found their real purpose in life. Ferdinand holds watch over our elders when not pushing them out of the way for food, and feisty little Francis keeps any barking dogs at bay.

Brandy Gibbs is certified as a facilitator in Equine Assisted Learning (EAL).  She is trained in the Epona method and continues to gain experience assisting with demos and workshops at Horse Link  
in the piney woods of Bastrop, TX.
